Tracking isn't coaching
Why use Rutz?
- 1
A plan written for you, every week
No 16-week PDF. Rutz builds backwards from your race date, then writes each week from the runs you actually did — not the ones you were supposed to do.
- 2
It flexes when life happens
Missed Tuesday? Flying Thursday? Your week reshapes around reality, so one bad day never turns into a broken plan.
- 3
Every run, explained
Finish a run and your coach tells you what it meant — effort, pacing, fatigue, and what it changes about tomorrow. Tracking isn't coaching. This is.
- 4
Works with the watch you already own
Garmin, COROS, Suunto, Polar and more. If your watch syncs to Intervals.icu, Rutz can read it. One sign-in connects everything.
See how an adaptive training plan works, what an AI running coach does, or what to do when you've missed a run.

Questions runners ask us
What is Rutz?
Rutz is an AI running coach app for iPhone. It builds a personalized running training plan one week at a time from the runs you actually did, analyzes every run, and reshapes the week when you miss a session or travel. It reads your watch data through Intervals.icu.
How is Rutz different from other running training plan apps?
Most apps give you a fixed plan and let you shuffle sessions around. Rutz keeps your race date and training phases fixed but writes each week fresh from your real training. You also get a written review of every run and an AI coach you can ask questions.
I'm a complete beginner. Is Rutz for me?
Yes. Beginner plans start with run-walk intervals and build gently, and every run is explained in plain language so you learn as you go.
I've been racing for years. Is Rutz for me?
Yes. Experienced runners get the most from the per-run analysis — pacing, efficiency, decoupling and load trends — and from a plan that actually responds to those signals.
Which distances can I train for?
Any running goal from 5K to 50K — 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon and ultra distances in between. Tell Rutz your race and its date, and it builds the training phases backwards from there.
Can I sync Rutz with my smartwatch?
Yes, through Intervals.icu. Any watch or platform that syncs to Intervals.icu works — Garmin, COROS, Suunto, Polar and Wahoo among them. You sign in to Rutz with your Intervals.icu account and your run history comes with you. Rutz coaches running, so it reads your runs.
Why does Rutz use Intervals.icu?
Intervals.icu is a free training-data platform that already connects to almost every watch brand. Using it as the single sign-in means one connection brings in all your data, whatever device you run with — and you stay in control of it.
What happens when I miss a run?
The next week is written from what you actually did. A load guard stops missed kilometres being crammed back in, so you stay on course for race day without playing catch-up.
How much does Rutz cost?
Pricing hasn't been announced yet. There will be a free tier and a premium tier, and how much AI analysis you get depends on which one you're on. Joining the waitlist is free, and inviting 2 friends who join earns you 1 free premium month.
Is Rutz on the App Store? Is there an Android app?
Rutz is in private beta on iPhone and is coming soon to the App Store. There is no Android app today. Join the waitlist and we'll email you when access opens.
Can I use Rutz if I'm coming back from injury?
Get cleared by a medical professional first. Rutz then builds from your current fitness and limits how quickly your load ramps up. It offers training guidance, not medical advice.
